Hidden Falls: Adventure for All

Sounds magical right? It is! We went on a beautiful hike on Saturday in Curt Gowdy State Park. We hiked about a 5 mile loop to Hidden Falls. It is a gorgeous little hike and it was so fun to get the kiddos out. We went with Eric and Kylie and took Easton and Madyn in the packs. They loves their ride up the mountain. Easton liked to eat rocks and splash in the water of course! It is so fun to get out in the mountains this summer.. Last summer East was too small to do stuff like this with but we plan on having little adventures every week. He loves to be outdoors and is all boy when it comes to dirt and grime!

Swimming

Today my friend Mikailee and I took Easton to the Rec Center outdoor pool for the first time this summer. He loves the pool so much and I feel like we will spend lots of time here this summer! He loved the little baby slide and I had to take him down it at least a dozen times! He also likes the water spouts and the fountain that shoot water out…. he likes to go through the fountain water and watch it fall down. We love summer!

The life of a 13 month old...

Easton is now 13 months old! I can't believe my baby boy is getting so big!
At 13 months old Easton is wearing size 4 diapers- although he could still fit into size 3 we decided to move him up so we didn't have to buy more 3's (given our stock pile of 4's). He is mostly in size 12 month clothes although he has a few size 9-12 month that are on the bigger side he still fits in. He currently has 8 teeth- four on top and four on bottom. Easton has always been an excellent eater although he is slowing down quite a bit lately. He has gotten more picky with textures and the types of foods he will eat but he will consistently gobble up hot dogs, cheese, yogurt, berries of any kind, he likes lasagna and chicken nuggets ,crackers, any of his little baby snacks like yogurt bites, puffs, etc. This little turkey still will not touch mac&cheese although I am still working on it- isn't that a staple for kiddos lunch? Easton drinks whole milk now from a sippy or his camel bak water bottle. I am happy we never had to do the bottle thing with him since it would be another transition for him to go through when we had to take it away. Thinking about taking things away.. we are working on the paci and he doesn't usually have it during the day anymore unless he is unusually grumpy. Easton is an excellent sleeper by now and sleeps about 12 hours at night now. He goes to bed around 8:15 or 8:30 and doesn't usually wake up until 7:45 or 8:30. Ahhh sleep! I feel like I hadn't slept in a year and now we sleep blissfuly through the night it is one of the perks of a 13 month old ;) He still takes two really good naps a day anywhere from 1 1/2 hours to 2 1/2 hours on a really snoozy day. This is also a perk as momma can get lots of things done or just relax instead of chasing this lil wild man! Speaking of which Easton walks with little to no stumbling- of course he bumbles a little in shoes still and on uneven surfaces but he is pretty much a pro at walking now! He has started to run which is an absolute delight when trying to chase him…. he is actually pretty fast too!
Easton is still a little bit of a cuddle bug on occasion…. he gives us lots of hugs and slobbery kisses and snuggles into us when we pick him up if only but for a moment before he is off again. But we do cherish those moments! Easton gives kisses to lots of people when we say "give kisses" and make smoochy sounds. He has started to blow kisses on his own schedule and it is the cutest thing ever ending with a "ba" sound! In the language department it is still lots of babbles for Mr. Easton… occasionally we will get a "no" and he says "mamma" and "dada" consistently when he wants us but it is still very minimal for him. He used to say "yuck" and sometimes I can still get him to say it but he is a very stubborn lil guy and does things when he wants.
He studies everything he sees and is making new connections every day. It is so fun watching him discover new things and formulate new ideas! He does things with toys and objects I wouldn't even think of and loves to put toys inside each other. He likes to stack blocks and knock them together. He also loves his tractors and clinks his toy hammer against them like he is fixing them- Grandpa would be proud! He finds the littlest things around the house and is always getting into everything. Easton continues to love his books and likes to watch Mickey Mouse, Jake, Chugginton, and Dinosaur Train. He flaps his arms when Mickey comes on it is pretty cute! He is starting to climb on things when he can get some leverage like if we are sitting on the floor he will climb up on the couch or if Daddy's book bag is on the floor he staggers onto that and hoists himself up or attempts to do so. He loves to climb stairs so we let him anytime we go up although we keep the baby gates in place just in case! Easton loves to carry our phones or anything around and prop them behind his head like he is in deep conversation!
Easton is the sweetest little boy and we love hims very much! We are so excited to watch him continue to grow and learn every day. He is our whole world and we can't imagine our lives without him!

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the dads in my life.. My own dad- has been the biggest reason for the person I am today, one of my biggest examples, and one of the most hard working strongest men I know.. He has taught me so much and has always been there for me. He raised me in the Gospel and taught me right from wrong. I love that Easton gets to have you as his grandpa too! I love you daddy and you will always be my daddy no matter how old I get! To my husband of 4 years…. I don't know what I would do without you… I feel very lucky to be your wife and to have you as Easton's Daddy. You are the best daddy in the whole world to Easton- he adores you and I love you for that! You are gentle and loving and are so fun with your little boy. I love to watch you play with him and be boys together. It is so fun to see you share your hobby's like fishing and the outdoors with Easton… I know in a few years he will only want to be with you doing the things you guys love. Thanks for being the greatest daddy ever we feel extremely blessed. And finally to my father in-law Tony Gillies…. I am so lucky to have married your son…. I could not ask for a better father in-law! You have taken me in like your own daughter and I have always felt a special part of your heart. Thank you for being an amazing father and grandpa!

Meant to Be

There are some friends who are just meant to be you best friends forever! Thats how we feel about Dustin and Kinzie Barnes and I just know Easton feels that way about Aspen. Though we live miles away we always find ourselves in each other's company. We love our friends dearly and hope to be near them again very soon! These are just some of the pictures I took of our cute kids. They will be friends forever- we even tease they will marry each other… not sure Dustin likes the sound of that idea for his little girl but I think they make good partners in crime!
