False Labor

I was checked at my doctors appointment this week (3 cm and 75% effaced this time!) and it sent me in high gear over the edge. I literally thought I was going into labor... going from having a couple or contractions every hour to having contraction 3-4 min apart for three days straight. I jumped right on any last minute preparations that I had put off until this time. I packed our hospital bags, cleaned the house, and got a pedicure. Yes I know crazy that I was in the early stages of labor and I decided my toes were most important but if you have ever been laying in a hospital bed with all your loveliness hanging out in the open for anyone to see and examine then you will agree having your toes done makes you feel ten times better about yourself! After all was said and done... I was in false labor that would last all through the next week! I was bummed!

37 Weeks.. ultrasound time

Today I went in for my scheduled ultrasound with Dr. Klingler. He estimated (remember with a grain of salt) that Graysen was measuring 7 lbs 7 oz... and about 38 weeks already. Now he said this estimate can go a pound in either direction but because Easton got stuck and had a bit of shoulder dystocia he decided to take a cautious view and do an elective induction at 39 weeks. Problem is he is on call the day before I turn 39 weeks and due to legal issues he can't actually induce me until I am 39 weeks. So the next time he is on call is the 13th of October and so that is the date we have penciled in. He wrote a note and sent instructions to the hospital that they are to call him if I go into labor prior to this date so that if possible he can be there to deliver and monitor the delivery of our baby. This is the plan at this point in time... I feel relatively ok with it although I sure hope Graysen decides to come earlier on his own since that is only one day before his due date and they can gain a couple of ounces every week. We weren't able to get any cute pictures from the ultrasound because our silly little mr. has his faced all mashed up against the placenta. Dr. Klingler joked that he will probably come out with a flat nose... I sure hope he is wrong!

Lunch Date

I am so LUCKY!!! I got to have a little lunch date with this handsome fella today! I sure love being his mommy and I wanted to do some things that were special with him before this baby arrives and life gets a little switched up. He is such a joy to have in our family and we wouldn't trade this sweet boy for the world!

Cousins make the BEST of FRIENDS!

This weekend we watched Madyn so that Eric and Kylie could go down to Denver to watch the Broncos game with her family. Although the two little stinks fought and for a moment had me questioning whether I could handle two kids.... they did a lot of loving too. They play so well together most of the time and are best friends. We feel so lucky to have family so close for the moment so that they can play together and grow up a bit together too. It will definitely be hard when we move next summer!

Little Scare

Tonight after dinner was cleaned up I went to the restroom and found blood in the toilet. Scared and panicky we called Kylie to come watch Easton and we rushed to the ER. I am 35 weeks along and I was thinking "this can't be it... I'm in no way prepared to have this baby tonight!" When we got to the ER they called Labor & Delivery down to wheel me up to a room. They checked me in and did all their initial assessments. I left a urine sample and yet again more blood. I was a little frightened at this point not really knowing what to think or expect. They called the on call doctor who was Dr. Westbrook (thank heavens it was someone I am ok with!) and she said to place an IV and run some saline fluid so that they could hydrate me before they did an ultrasound. Ultrasound came up and ruled out any possibility that this was a placental rupture and measure Graysen. He was measuring about 5 lbs 8 oz at this point and approximately a week ahead. Since we were going to have an ultrasound at about 37 weeks with Dr. Klingler to decide if Graysen's size would cause more of a risk factor for shoulder dystocia we were now in the mind set that an induction was a possibility if he was measuring bigger at this point (although these are just estimates and they can't really be sure how big he is... take it with a grain of salt they say but at least they are be cautious). After ultrasound wrapped up their portion the Dr. decided to do a straight catheter in order to determine where the blood was coming from. Now I have only ever had one catheter in my whole life and that was when I was in labor with our first born Easton... and I had already had the epidural placed so it was nice and comfortable- didn't feel a thing. However, I was about to have a catheter placed and then removed after draining my bladder with no pain medicine prior to this process--- yikes! And YIKES it was! Dang that hurt ... I think I squoze the nurses hand until it turned blue haha! Sure enough they finished their uncomfortable process and the blood was coming from my bladder. So they were able to rule out any harm or danger to me or the baby at that point and discharge me with instructions to visit Urology for an appointment the next day. If anything good came out of this long night it was that we were able to see our sweet babe on the ultrasound machine screen, determine in advanced that he was measuring bigger, and determine that there was no harm to him or me at that time. They also did a check and found that I am already dilated to a 2 1/2 which they weren't thrilled about since I am still preterm but hey I was psyched knowing that my body was already doing its work!

X-rays for East

So for the past five days our little Easton has refused to walk on his leg. He limps when he does walk and falls down a lot in pain. He has tried to run and immediately falls to the floor. We have no idea what happened but we took him into the doctor this morning... and after the day we have had I have come to the conclusion that we have the best family! After spending the morning at the Dr. Office and then heading over to Ivinson Memorial for x-rays we still have no news or indication what is wrong with Easton's leg. But this get well care package from aunt Kylie & cousin Madyn sure cures his tears of having to walk on it after waking up from his nap. Thank you we sure love you guys!

Baking with my Little Love

A little pre-nap banana bread baking with my little helper. Easton loves to help in the kitchen and really enjoyed helping mom make banana bread today. He especially loved using the mixer! It is fun to watch him get excited over little things like this and I love teaching him to cook it's so much fun!
